    Description

The idea of a "scout rifle" came about in the early 1980s by Jeff Cooper. Cooper saw the potential of a versatile, lightweight, and general propose rifle with good accuracy and is chambered in a heavy hitting cartridge, similar to that of a "guide rifle". The Steyr Scout meets every requirement for this concept marvelously and makes an excellent companion for backpacking in bear territory or for the next hunt. The Steyr Scout is typically chambered in the potent .308 cartridge but other options such as .243 Winchester are available. The forend can actually be folded down and used as a bipod, and the stock contains a hollow well for the storage of an additional magazine. Scopes are traditionally low power, high eye-relief and mounted in front of the action, allowing both eyes to remain open while aiming, but high power, low eye relief can be mounted above the action.

    Features of the Steyr Scout

    • Foldable bipod integrated into the forend
    • Hollow well for storing additional magazine in stock
    • Scope mount
    • Synthetic stock
