New for 2022, the MCX SPEAR-LT by Sig Sauer is the next generation of the renowned MCX platform. Building off the success of its predecessors, the MCX SPEAR-LT combines the lightweight modular design of the MCX Gen 1 with the durability of the MCX VIRTUS, resulting in a system that is lightweight, durable, modular, and accurate. To ensure maximum ruggedness and rigidity, the MCX SPEAR-LT's handguard incorporates 2 additional screws in the handguard to provide maximum deflection capabilities, allowing more accessories to be added to the handguard without interfering with the rifle's point-of-aim/point-of-impact. The handguard is also lighter than prior versions, and was designed with an emphasis on ergonomics. Similar to the handguard, the barrel has a reduced weight but has a slightly larger contour, promoting greater accuracy without adding unnecessary weight. The barrel is topped with a QD Flash Hider and uses a proprietary Cluth-Lock design for use with a suppressor.

Other features of the MCX SPEAR-LT include a newly designed stock system and lower. The stock is foldable and uses a push button release similar to the one found on Sig's Cross rifles for rapid deployment. The stock's overall design is akin to the Minimalist Plus stock that the MCX Rattler uses, but is slightly larger and includes a cheek piece to accommodate the use of higher mounted optics. The lower on the other hand features fully ambidextrous controls such as a M400 style bolt catch, and is compatible with standard MCX and MCX VIRTUS upper receivers. The MCX SPEAR-LT's trigger is the Matchlite Duo, but a firing pin latch in the bolt carrier allows an AR15 style trigger or any MCX trigger to be used. In addition, this variation of the MCX SPEAR-LT is chambered in 7.62x39, a cartridge never before seen in the MCX family. To handle the new cartridge, 7.62x39 versions of the MCX SPEAR-LT are reengineered with a new latch system, allowing the weapon to reliably cycle ANY type of 7.62x39 cartridge.
