Originally designed in 1975, the CZ75 series is the flagship of CZ's pistol line, with well over one million units produced. This steel framed, double-action/single-action handgun has seen service in the hands of military, police, and government agencies around the world, and is the second most copied handgun design next to the 1911. The CZ75 BD is an upgraded version of the standard CZ75 B handgun, featuring a de-cocking lever. The de-cocking feature allows the user to carry the weapon with the hammer down, causing the first pull of the trigger to be in double-action, which is longer and slightly heavier. This adds an additional level of safety, and every subsequent follow-up shot will be in single-action, offering a light pull with a quick reset. Other features of the CZ75 BD include excellent ergonomics, accuracy, and reliability. The CZ75 BD's level of shooter comfort can be attributed to a curved frame designed for a perfect fit in the shooter's hand, and a tang that extends over the web of hand provides protection from hammer or slide bite. This special design eliminates the "brick-in-the-hand" feeling that plagues high capacity pistols of a similar class, and makes the weapon feel like an extension of the shooter's hand. One of the CZ75 BD's more notable features is its low recoil. This is due to extremely tight tolerances, and a uniquely designed internal rail lowers the pistol's center of gravity to help reduce muzzle jump as well as improving reliability. In addition, the CZ75 BD comes standard with a firing pin block safety, which prevent the firing pin from moving unless the trigger is pulled and will prevent the weapon from firing even if its dropped in its muzzle.
