Description
In the years prior to the American Civil War, the Sharps Rifle Manufacturing Company produced some of the finest and most accurate sporting rifles ever made at the time. When the War broke out in 1861, falling-block versions of Sharps rifles were pressed into service where they gained a reputation for extreme accuracy, and is actually where the term "Sharpshooter" originated. After the Civil War, many of the Sharps rifles were converted to fire metallic cartridges, and versions with long heavy barrels were produced. These long-barreled, breach-loading Sharps rifles quickly became a favorite among professional buffalo hunters, who valued their extreme accuracy and stopping power as well as their ability to take down select buffalo at long range without spooking the rest of the herd.
Uberti's 1874 Sharps Special Rifle is an authentic reproduction down to the last detail. The walnut stock and fore end feature fine checkering and well as a pewter fore end cap. This rifle also features a pair of double set triggers for enhanced accuracy.
