Manurhin's MR38 is largely based on the extremely accurate and rugged MR73, but is be refined for use in professional matches and competition. The MR38 features an aesthetically pleasing deep blued finish, and has been polished to perfection. The MR38's sophisticated appearance is further embellished with a grip made from select wood, and has been ergonomically shaped with finger grooves as well as checkering for an excellent feel in the shooter's hand.

Performance wise, the MR38 has been heavily optimized for durability and accuracy. It features a sizable under-lug to reduce recoil and flawlessly balance the weapon, and its match grade sights are fully adjustable. The cylinders of the MR38 is fully machined from forged, ordnance-certified steel billets, and the chamber finish is conducted by an impact process resulting in remarkably smooth chamber walls and long service life. In addition, all fitting and adjusting of the MR38 is done entirely by hand by master gunsmiths including deburring, polishing and assembling the mechanical parts.
