The Bren 2 Ms PDW takes much of its design from the Bren 805, the official service rifle of the Czech military, but sports several modifications to cater to the recreational shooting community. One of the most notable changes is a vast reduction in weight, this can be attributed to an upper receiver made from aluminum and a lower receiver made from durable polymer. The charging handle has also been updated, replaced with a non-reciprocating charging handle that stays stowed in the forward position until needed. This new charging handle can be installed on either side, and doubles as a forward assist for greater reliability. The Bren 2's controls are completely ambidextrous and reminiscent of AR-platform controls. A bolt catch/release, magazine release, and safety are located on both sides of the weapon and are in familiar positions to anyone accustom to AR15 controls. The Bren 2 Ms is available in 2 different chamberings: 7.62x39 and 5.56x45. All variations can be modified with different barrel lengths, chamberings, and feature a modular fore-end that can be exchanged with different lengths. In addition, the Bren 2 Ms utilizes a flush rear plate for attaching an AR-style buffer tube for use with an arm brace or similar pistol stabilization device, as well as the installation of a stock for individuals who want an SBR configuration.
