Mossberg's 590M is an innovative, rugged, and reliable pump action shotgun ideal for home defense, truck guns, or for personal protection in bear territory. Unlike the vast majority of pump shotguns, the 590M feeds from a detachable box magazine. This eliminates the need to feed individual shells into the tube making reloads extremely fast. Aside from a detachable magazine, what sets the 590M apart from the 500 is a more durable design in the form of thicker barrel walls, a heavier receiver, and a metal trigger guard instead of a plastic one. Select models of the 590M are available with ghost ring sights, heat shields, M-LOK attachment points, and interchangeable stocks and pistol grips. Like the other shotguns in the 500 family, the 590M Mariner comes standard with a set of dual extractors, twin action bars, and an anti-jam elevator. Cycling the action is remarkably short, allowing shooters to send quick follow up shots or engage multiple targets.
