These features include a beveled loading port, a redesigned carrier, and a two-piece carrier latch. This allows the user to load shells into the port without having to take your eyes off of incoming birds, and the two-piece carrier latch actually moves during the loading process with minimal tension to reduce the possibility of jamming. The bolt handle and safety have also been enlarged. These features come together to make loading and operating the Super Black Eagle 3 easy even when wearing gloves. One of the Super Black Eagle 3's more notable aspects is Benelli's exclusive Comfort Tech 3 recoil reduction system, which utilizes a series of shock-absorbing chevrons to greatly mitigate felt recoil.

In addition to its optimized handling and ergonomics, the Super Black Eagle 3 operates via the Inertia-Driven System, a hallmark of Benelli shotguns' strength and reliability. This extremely reliable action never requires adjusting and cycles consistently in unfavorable conditions. This simple, yet robust system is composed of just 3 main parts - the bolt body, inertia spring, and rotating bolt head - and works by harnessing the inertia of recoil to cycle the next round. From a cleanliness and speed perspective, gas systems simply cannot compete. The Inertia Driven System prevents residue from entering the action and ensures the gas, smoke, and burnt powder remain in the barrel.
